Originally established in November 1999 as “Association of Environmental Data Users in Europe” (AEDUE), the organisation became PRIMET in September 2003.

PRIMET is a registered company with a Board of Directors elected by the members.

The PRIMET Board employs a General Secretary to manage the organisation and progress its aims.
